So today DH was off from work, and we spent almost the whole day together as a family, running around town, getting things done. Here's a rundown of the busy day we enjoyed:
- First, I went to my Christian Women of Faith Meetup group's weekly Bible study, held over at Brookwood. I must confess that living so near to that church building makes the tendency to wait to leave till the last minute a very big weakness of mine. I was late. Again. But the girls didn't mind, and I even got to get some coffee before settling in and getting started. So that was nice (the Dunkin Donuts were nice, too, since I got the best seat in the whole room, with the boxes of two dozen sitting right in front of me!).
- DH picked me up, with Stephen dozing in the carseat, and we went off to tackle the day's chores.
- We went to the mall, where I picked up my free gift from Aerie, through their A List program--I also got a $5 gift card, just for trying on something! I'll have to check the clearance racks next time I'm there for something to treat myself with, using that card.
- Also at the mall, we visited the Children's Place, "just to see" if they had anything good. And they did! We got a really nice winter jacket for Stephen, on sale for $20, and I got to use a 15% off coupon on it, too. We bought a cute "Vote" t-shirt, too, and plaid something like .75 cents for it, after clearance sales and coupon discounts. Pretty nice! Now here's where I sing the praises of the Children's Place . . . there was a really cute newsboy cap I wanted, but they were out of Stephen's size. I asked the store associates to check the back, just in case they had his size hiding back there. Nope, none in his size. BUT they gave me a coupon for free shipping from the store website and told me they saw that the website still had Stephen's size! Plus, I could use my 15% coupon online, too! How cool is that? They were so nice. If I had been mystery shopping them, I would have written a lot of nice things in my report!
- After getting bubble tea from my favourite tea shop in the mall (I got a couple of my mystery shop payment checks in the mail, so we had a few extra dollars for my favourite little luxury--yay!), we swung by Cartridge World for ink refills, and Wal-mart for groceries. I saved $11 on groceries with coupons! Yay for savings! We got a couple pumpkins, so hopefully I'll try my hand at pumpkin carving for the first time ever later tonight or tomorrow. Stay tuned for pictures!
- Then we came home, had tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches, watched some tv online (who needs cable anymore, when every good show is offered for free online the day after it airs on tv? Hulu.com is a great site!).
- Now baby's asleep, DH is at work once again, and I'm about to watch The Office on NBC, one of the few channels our stupid digital converter box picks up.
