I voted! Unlike last time, there was excitement in the air as I waited in line with about 50 other people. With Matt unexpectedly being called in to work today (he'll vote when he gets home), I went to vote with just my son. We chatted with the person before us in line and the persons behind. The wait was only about 20 minutes--Stephen happily nursed as I carried him in his sling.
I signed in and get into my very own voting booth with no problems--I slowly read each office and candidates' name and party. I pressed the touchscreen on each choice and reviewed my ballot. Stephen was good and didn't try to touch the buttons for the other candidate.
And then, my ballot was cast! I have been counted among the masses of Americans voting today!
Democracy is great.
There's been a huge smile on my face all day long, from the playdate we attended this morning (thanks for the wonderful lunch, Lydia!), to the chiropractor visit, and the stops at Liquid Highway for free voter coffee (thanks, BigJohn!), and Krispy Kreme for a free election day doughnut. The comeradarie with others who sport "I voted" stickers spreads the excitement and expectation that something good is happening.
No matter who wins the election, I'm confident that God retains control though His mighty Sovereignty. In the meantime, I'll just keep enjoying this beautiful Election Day.
